MC Chris, Dr Awkward, Jesse Dangerously, Tribe One

When: Tue., Sept. 3, 8:30 p.m. 2013
Price: $13-15
At worst, MC Chris is Gen Y's underground Weird Al: a quirky, clever lyricist with the ability to ring the pop culture bell, from the seminal nerdcore breakthrough "Fett's Vette" to his recent send-up of Carly Rae Jepson's "Call Me Maybe" (titled "Your Face Looks Tasty"). His pint-size stature dovetails perfectly with the inherent nerdiness of would-be gangster teens, and his squeaky voice only amplifies the Napoleonic undertones. At best, Chris is a keen satirist, well-schooled by his time on Adult Swim, and capable of going high and low like South Park. —Chris Parker
