Mary Kircher Studio Talk

When: Thu., Aug. 7, 1 p.m. 2014
Price: Free
Though Mary Kircher only officially began her career as an artist in 2009, the Raleigh-based textile specialist has quickly established herself as one of the most accomplished weavers in North Carolina. Her success comes in part as a result of her mastery of the intricacies of dyeing, which imbues her textiles with subtle gradations of color that evoke—atmospherically if not always mimetically—the numinous landscapes of Western North Carolina. Kircher's artist talk at Artspace, where she has her studio, coincides with Unravelled, currently on view at the Block Gallery in the Raleigh Municipal Building, which features Kircher's work alongside local artists Becky Joye and Nora Phillips. —Will Partin
