Re: “What About the Pigs?

I thank you Ellen for speaking out for the forgotten ones, the non human animals that are mutilated from the moment they enter this world. The beings that spend the rest of their lives in confinement enduring an existence where everything natural to them is denied. I've looked into their eyes inside those trucks, begging for mercy, a drink of water and some kind of empathy and mercy. Each of their faces is different. They are individuals. For those that look at their plates and see bacon, ham, or BBQ, I ask you to consider Ellen's plea to see them. We have become a nation that no longer embraces empathy, compassion and mercy. Those who ask us to feel for these beings are often mocked for caring. I wonder, when did we stop being merciful? When did we begin to put our ethics and compassion aside for a moment of palate pleasure? We will look back at history and we will ask, "how could humans have been so barbaric?". Proud to know you Ellen and proud to call you friend.
