The live reading of Jampole's (pronounced JAM-pole) poetry was better than off the page. His reading of Ghost, a poem about a dream inside of a dream inside of a dream, each one a more horrific encounter with American military torture than the previous, was so moving that he was asked to read it at the demonstration against extraordinary rendition flights in Smithfield, NC on Saturday, October 27, 2007. His reading marked the climax of the gathering of more than 200 demonstrators in Smithfield that afternoon.
