Re: “Vote! The INDY’s endorsements for races in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and Carrboro

Chinrat-- I am not shocked about the Indy's endorsement of Michael Parker because I have watched him invest his time and energy in helping the Town of Chapel Hill for the last few years. He has served on countless boards and commissions and selflessly and tirelessly given his time and expertise, including co-chairing one of the most difficult small-area plans in our Town. He has earned that endorsement.

Re: “Vote! The INDY’s endorsements for races in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and Carrboro

I am shocked that Lee Storrow was passed over for J. Anderson in your endorsements for Chapel Hill Town Council. Ms. Anderson was my neighbor, until her family moved out of our "starter homes" neighborhood. NOT ONCE did I see Ms. Anderson attend any of the Council meetings or any of the Boards or Commissions in which I have served. NOT ONCE has she sought information or shared her insights with me, her neighbor and Council rep. In fact, until she was recruited by CHALT, she was one of the most apolitical neighbors we knew, busy with her education consulting and newborn daughter.

Putting Anderson in Lee's seat would be a shame. We would miss the passion and commitment, and invaluable community investment that Lee Storrow has made over the last 4 years.

When recently I directed a DTH reporter to call Lee about an issue I was unsure about, she replied: "We know, here at the DTH we always call Councilmember Storrow, because he knows what is going on with downtown and the University and is willing to explain, but my editor wants me to find at least one other Council member who is informed on this issue. "

I work hard on Town Council to be as informed and thoughtful as Lee Storrow in my decisions, but he has set a high bar. You can be sure Anderson will not measure up.
