Maria Taylor, Dead Fingers, Grenadines

When: Tue., Nov. 22, 8:30 p.m. 2011
Price: $12

For a singer who sounds so laconic and placid, Maria Taylor has been pretty restless over the past decade. She's split from and reunited with her Azure Ray partner (Orenda Fink), pushed her music into all sorts of TV shows, worked with countless collaborators (including Moby and Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst) and recorded a few albums under her own name. While some of her solo work has been restless to its detriment, this year's Overlook finds Taylor making the sort of sweetly whispered folk-like music that earned her such a heavy workload to begin with. Dead Fingers and the Grenadines join this $12 show at 8:30 p.m. —David Raposa
