Maps & Atlases, Tera Melos

When: Fri., Nov. 12, 7 p.m. 2010
Price: $10-12

The sound of Chicago's Maps & Atlases is at once both maddeningly familiar and curiously unique. Some might refer to other idiosyncratic indie rock polyglots, like TV on The Radio or Vampire Weekend, to describe the band's Barsuk Records debut, Perch Patchwork. True, elements of their beguiling music—the artfully skittish guitar lines, David Davidson's warm, warbling voice—could bring those groups, or countless others, to mind. But if Maps & Atlases has anything in common with anybody, it's a boundless creativity that thrives on making noises that are hard to pin down. Tera Melos opens at 9 p.m. —David Raposa
