Manifest II

When: Fri., Oct. 13 2017

Last year, local musicians Sarah Shook and Erika Libero were working on trying to set up some skill-share workshops for female and nonbinary musicians. Then they stumbled upon a post online in which major music festival lineups had been edited to remove all-male bands; the remaining rosters were mere skeletons. Thus, they started Manifest, a two-day DIY festival that exclusively featured bands whose members were not all men. Manifest returns to Local 506, Nightlight, and The Cave with the same mission this year, with bands that run the gamut from Shook's own raucous honky-tonk rock, the smooth electro-pop of Tomboi, fearless punk from The Muslims, and the jittery noise of Sister, Brother. There's metal, pop-rock, snotty punk, a little prog, and more on the bill, too. Revel in their power, and maybe you'll find a favorite new band while you're at it. —Allison Hussey
