Manic Caravan Poetry Series: Aldon Nielsen

When: Sat., Oct. 12, 8 p.m. 2013
The Manic Caravan reading series takes the baton from the Minor American series of recent years. Hosted at Duke in a Victorian parlor room in the art building, the series kicks off with a visit from Aldon Nielsen, author of five books of poetry and winner of honors such as the Gertrude Stein Award and the Larry Neal Award. Splitting his time between Pennsylvania and California, Nielsen has taught at numerous universities, including Howard and UCLA, and co-edited, with Lauri Ramey, Every Goodbye Ain't Gone, an anthology of experimental poetry by black American artists. Joining Nielsen is Ryan Snyder Ananat, a Durham assemblagist of fiction, poetry and sound. —Chris Vitiello
