Manchester Orchestra, The Front Bottoms, O'Brother

When: Sat., Nov. 9, 8:30 p.m. 2013
Price: $17-20
Manchester Orchestra at least lent some credence to the second half of the Atlanta quintet's name, embellishing the group's chugging, grunge-tinged rock dynamics with strings. But the orchestra is still largely lacking when it comes to memorable hooks. Fellow Atlanta act O'Brother opens the show with a dark, heavy, triple-guitar attack. The bill's highlight, The Front Bottoms, play the middle slot. Reminiscent of the Triangle's own Future Kings of Nowhere, the New Jersey quartet pumps out high-energy, acoustic tunes that are freewheeling and frenetic. Frontman Brian Sella shapes experiences into shout-along lyrics that are rich in details and directness. —Spencer Griffith
