Man v. Liver

When: Fri., May 2, 6 p.m. 2014
Longtime INDY readers will surely remember Paul Friedrich's comic strip Onion Head Monster, which featured the absurdist adventures of the roughly drawn little fellow of the title. The cartoonist's latest creation is Man V. Liver, an idea that began with cocktail napkin sketches at Raleigh Times and grew into a coffee table book from Andrews McMeel Publishing last year. Each cartoon features one of Friedrich's distinctively sloppy drawings of "Man," a suave Don Draper type who spouts drinking-themed witticisms written by Raleigh journalist Neil Hinson. Meet the creators at this hometown event, where they sign books, t-shirts and coasters. —Brian Howe
