Man of La Mancha

When: Feb. 4-19 2012
Phone: $10-20

This intrepid musical written by Dale Wasserman, with music and lyrics by Joe Darion and Mitch Leigh, is inspired by Miguel Cervantes' classic Don Quixote. An impoverished and jailed poet tries to save his own neck by bringing to life his novel of a man unabashed in his idealization of right over might. In this play within a play, Don Quixote is another man who dares to dream the impossible dream. With lyrics that stand stronger than a weathered windmill, this musical is a timeless tale of passion over greed and is ripe for our current political times. Sunday's 2 p.m. performance is pay-what-you-can. Tickets for the other shows during the Feb. 2–19 run, with performances Thursdays–Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m., are $10–$20. —Christina Cass
