Madison Violet

When: Sat., June 2, 8 p.m. 2012
Price: $11-13

They're Canada's answer to the Indigo Girls. Toronto duo Brenley MacEachern and Lisa MacIsaac, aka Madison Violet, have spent the last dozen years making harmony-laden Americana that resides in the folk-rock neighborhood but kibitzes frequently with blues, country and rock. They're supporting their fifth album, The Good in Goodbye, which finds them more languid and textured than their Georgian predecessors. Banjo is a frequent guest, but the rustic bluegrass tone is usually softened by polished production that prefers shine to backwoods crackle. Their voices are quite lithe and pretty, in a Nashville kind of way. Tickets to the 8 p.m. show are $11 in advance, $13 at the door. —Chris Parker
