Loudon Wainwright III & Lucy Wainwright Roche

When: Fri., Sept. 16, 6 p.m. 2011
Price: Free

It's a shame, but Loudon Wainwright III is known to modern audiences chiefly through his offspring, most notably his overly dramatic eldest son, Rufus. On this Durham date, he brings along his youngest, the charming Lucy Wainwright Roche. Her sweetly melodic folk is more in tune with her father's relaxed and assured aesthetic. But daddy is still the draw, with songs that range from goofily humorous ("Dead Skunk") to politically relevant ("Jesse Don't Like It") to personally poignant ("School Days"). The free show, part of WUNC's Back Porch Music on the Lawn series, starts at 6 p.m. —Jordan Lawrence
