Los Amigos Invisibles

When: Wed., April 3, 8:30 p.m. 2013
Price: $15-18

More than two decades since forming as a garage disco band in Caracas, multiple Grammy-nominated and Latin Grammy-winning Venezuelan jokesters Los Amigos Invisibles remain true to their signature sound: nuevo-vintage soul, funk, disco and pop throbbing with electro-dance beats. The adopted New Yorkers now write as many English as Spanish lyrics; they've cleaned them up slightly from their raunchy early days, too, but there's still horny romanticism on their eighth studio album, Repeat After Me. Enduring appeal doesn't have to be complicated, and the sextet's latest is just as fun, sexy and dance-friendly as ever, laced with humor and a vinyl collector's enthused sensibility. —Sylvia Pfeiffenberger
