Re: “Life after (peak) oil

This about WAY more than cheap gasoline though. EVERYTHING around us in the modern world, from the food grown with petrochemical fertilizers, to the computer I am typing this message on, is made directly from petroleum. The car I am going to drive to work is made from petroleum. The medicines I took this morning were made from petroleum. So, when petroleum production starts to decline, EVERYTHING people in the modern world depend on for life declines with it - PERIOD. Unless you can figure out how to make an iPhone from soy beans or auto parts from corn, the developed world is in for a major shock, and soon. Basically, EVERYONE who depends on food grown using petroleum (BILLIONS of people) are going to starve to death or die in the massive resource war that follows. This isn't alarmism. This isn't science fiction. This is reality.
