“Pop-Americana” might not have been a genre until recently, and maybe it still doesn’t count. But it’s a precise tag for Strange Tales, the second full-length album by Lord Huron, a four-piece bro band from the rustic backwoods of Los Angeles. In the band’s earliest material, founder Ben Schneider contrasted his Dust Bowl croons with bits of busy, electronic tropicalia. The sound still had a commercial bent, but its geography was complicated and improbable. Now, they sound like Fleet Foxes angling for a beer ad. —Jeff Klingman
