Lord Huron, Night Moves

When: Sat., Oct. 6, 9 p.m. 2012
Price: $10-12

Los Angeles art teacher Ben Schneider passed along some demos to people at the 2010 Woodsist festival in Big Sur. He quickly became an underground sensation. His cinematic pop is soaked in reverb that hovers like a warm haze over oft-burbling tropicalia and Afropop rhythms. It's somehow exultant and strangely removed, a joyous rally witnessed in a dream. There's too much detail in the arrangements and the guitars are too far down in the mix to be neo-gaze, yet the woozy melodicism is certainly suggestive of those acts. Arrive early for the sultry, '70s-inflected cosmic country-soul of Minneapois' Night Moves. —Chris Parker
