Lonnie Walker, Daytona, Joe Norkus

When: Sat., March 10, 9:30 p.m. 2012
Price: $5

Raleigh's Lonnie Walker injects nervy distortion into road-worn country-rock, approaching Dylan's wild mercury with bent, Pavement-esque textures and a taste for breakneck tempos. Their live execution has improved considerably in recent years; the band contorts its tones into clouds of viciously colorful sound. Brooklyn's Daytona features an expat from the tenacious garage trio Harlem, but their own sound is far cleaner, hewing to the hippie-hooked style of Akron/ Family. Guitars layer as muscular bass lines build to satisfyingly jammy conclusions. Embarrassing Fruits' Joe Norkus opens. —Jordan Lawrence
