Re: “A new electronic niche gains a foothold in Raleigh

Grayson,

Thanks for the write-up! Glad to see the scene getting attention at this phase in it's development.

I'd like clarify the status of Locus Recordings, which you call out as a "New York Label."

Although I spearhead the label and now live in New York, the focus of the label has been in developing this NC scene from a production stance, and has operated out of Raleigh for most of it's lifespan. There are still a number of people who help with the label based in NC.

Some fun facts:

- The studio was based off Ashe Ave. from 2010-2011, and in Boylan Heights from 2011-2013.
- All releases feature NC recording artists.
- All of the artwork has featured NC artists and designers. Our printed goods are from AhPeele.
- From 2011-2013 we ran monthly night at Neptunes (Anything Goes! - 3rd Thursdays).
- We've thrown parties at both Kings and Mosaic, including releases and showcases.
- Sean Mckee + Michael Perros released a record with us under the alias Chateau.
- Tomorrow we're releasing a record from a notoriously funny local under the alias HJMS.

Hope this sheds some light on what we do.

cheers,
N
