Local Band, Local Beer: La Familie Cissokho, Dub Addis, Durty Dub

When: Thu., Sept. 24, 9:30 p.m. 2015
Price: free
Local kora virtuoso Diali Cissokho joins his nephew and percussionist Sidya as La Familie Cissokho. Expect the performance to stick closer to traditional Senegalese dance music than those of Diali’s Kaira Ba, which fuses West African styles with Western rock. Durham’s Dub Addis and Durty Dub join. The former delivers soulful vocals and lyrical mindfulness over classic roots reggae and Ethiopian rhythms, while the latter tackles Top 40 tunes with a jazz-funk approach. —Spencer Griffith
