Lloyd Cole

When: Wed., March 25, 8 p.m. 2015
Price: $20
The English singer-songwriter Lloyd Cole made a major impression with Rattlesnakes, his 1984 debut with The Commotions. Full of languid folk-pop embroidered with references to Norman Mailer, Eve Marie-Sainte and a girl with “cheekbones like geometry and eyes like sin,” the LP set a high standard that Cole never quite matched. Cole’s songs have shed their youthful cheekiness, but he’s retained his knack for insinuating melodies and lyrical acuity. Last year, he made a well-received rock record, his first in years, but tonight’s all-acoustic setting is one he has mastered. —David Klein
