Liz Longley, Anthony D'Amato (Back Room)

When: Fri., March 13, 8 p.m. 2015
Price: $8-$10
Liz Longley’s “Camaro,” from her self-titled debut, presents a strange, possessive girl-to-girl challenge: “He’s holding on to you/But he can’t let go of me/You’re just a shiny new thing,” she sings. Shouldn’t she direct her ire at her wandering-eyed fella rather than some supposed temptress? Anyway, the rest of the record feels similarly misguided, with major-label Nashville production propping up underwhelming songwriting and arrangements that smack more of indie rock than the roots for which she hopes. —Allison Hussey
