Re: “'The VA is waiting for us to die'

After being turned down for a service connected disability, I remained homeless for a year. I did get a non-service connect for mental problems which is $910@month. I have stopped abusing alcohol. A year passed and I didn't get help to file my VA claim and was too busy trying to live sober and go to school and missed the appeal deadline. There are many like me. After Vietnam, I was a workaholic drunk for 31-years before losing everything and going homeless. Now we are in Iraq doing the same damn thing, AGAIN.
