Little Tybee, Octopus Jones, First Person Plural

When: Fri., July 10, 9 p.m. 2015
Price: $7
Josh Martin, guitarist for Atlanta folkies Little Tybee, is an innovative and Ibanez-endorsed shredder. His idiosyncratic style is similar to that of tech-djent wunderkind and Animals as Leaders Tosin Abasi, a former music-school chum. Little Tybee isn’t as heavy Animals as Leaders, but the sextet’s progressive folk is as cunning and calculated. Martin’s extended melodies don’t distract from but enhance Little Tybee’s lattice-like songs, as they intersect with vibes, violins, synthesizers and delicate falsetto vocals. —Patrick Wall
