Lisa Marie Presley, Birds and Arrows

When: Mon., Nov. 11, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $25-30 (VIP $100)
Seven years beyond her first two albums of overproduced pop, Lisa Marie Presley confounded expectations with last year's T Bone Burnett-produced Storm & Grace. Burnett has worked on many huge Americana albums, including the soundtrack of O Brother, Where Art Thou?, so it wasn't surprising that he surrounded her with impeccably crafted roots rock and shadowy sounds to match her dusky vocals. What was striking, though, was Presley's commitment, particularly compared with 2005's aptly named Now What. Any ambivalence here is in the songs and not the performance; Presley expresses herself poignantly. —Chris Parker
