Lindsey Stirling, Echosmith

When: Mon., June 22, 8 p.m. 2015
Price: $20-$45
In 2010, Lindsey Stirling, a dancing violinist interested in melding classical and electronic music, advanced only to the quarter finals of the televised competition America’s Got Talent. For a loser, though, she’s done rather well, becoming a viral sensation, inking big management deals, sharing mega-hit “All of Me” with John Legend, selling out headlining shows in big rooms and generally exploiting the corroding borders of both the music industry and strict genres. A tightly choreographed display of fast steps and bright lights, her show seems a peculiar mix of genius and gimmick, where the once-billed “hip-hop violinist” becomes instead an instrumentalist for the body-paint-and-EDM era. —Grayson Haver Currin
