Life is a Rich Pageant

When: Fri., Dec. 15, 6-9 p.m. 2017
Price: free

If you've been to a rock show in the Triangle, then chances are good that you've seen the work of artists Steve Oliva and Christopher Williams. (Disclosure: Oliva and Williams work in the INDY's production department.) They both regularly make flyers and posters for local and touring acts performing at Triangle-area clubs, and they both have been featured at Poster City at Hopscotch. But this one-night-only showcase of new prints from Oliva and Williams, who run Kitchen Island Show Print and Plastic Flame Press, respectively, doesn't trade in rock bands. Instead, these are original art pieces that deal with the myriad absurdities of existence. Some are fun and silly, some are angry or sad, some are big and complicated, some are small and simple. All will be distinguished by the artists' sharp, graphical use of striking colors and bold designs. —Patrick Wall
