Lewis Black

When: Thu., Oct. 17, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $40-60
As much as Lewis Black loves to present himself as a quintessentially cranky East Coast mad dog, spouting off on what's wrong with this country either onstage or during one of his "Back in Black" segments on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, the man also has ties right here in the Triangle. He attended school at UNC-Chapel Hill, graduating in 1970. He still pays visits to his alma mater; he did a two-night stint there last April. Then again, since he also has a home in Chapel Hill, Black is never that far away. It's kind of funny knowing that a proud New Yorker like Black can escape the hustle and bustle of the big city and mingle among the hipsters and hippies of Chapel Hill. It almost makes you wonder what he thinks about this recent trend of New Yorkers taking up residence in the Tar Heel state, escaping to Charlotte and other quiet corners. See if he has something to say about it during his The Rant Is Due show. —Craig D. Lindsey
