Let Bush violate First Amendment all he wants

I would like to inform Rebecca Cerese and her faction that we are living in a post-9/11 world ("Defending recent impeachment debate," Letters to the Editor, Feb. 13). I am really sorry if her group objects to the way our administration is handling our country.

Cerese and others seem to think that the Bush administration may be taking some liberties with the First Amendment. Let them do it! Everyone seems to always hide behind the First Amendment anyway, but that is another discussion.

Perhaps Cerese needs to be reminded of 9/11, maybe 3,000 times. (That's how many people died.) To protect our country, certain limits and freedoms may have to be altered.

President Bush can do whatever he deems necessary to protect our country. If listening in on some phone conversations, having stricter policies at airports, etc., makes our country safer, by all means let him do it.

Cerese seems to think our government is torturing our enemy.

I wonder what she would call all of the beheadings of Americans that went on in Iraq and other regions. It was important our military went to Iraq to stop Saddam Hussein and his weapons of mass destruction.

I do not think it is wrong for a little "intense interrogation" of the enemy to try and get information about where the next bombing will be—just think of how many lives may be saved.

As for the impeachment of President Bush, and Vice President Cheney, I do not think it is going to ever happen. Perhaps Cerese should visit Fantasyland to explore these ridiculous ideas.

One can take relief in knowing groups like the Coalition For The Constitution prove Andy Warhol's theory of being famous for 15 minutes. After their time is up, they fade into leftist turncoat oblivion.
