Lee Gildersleeve & The Bad Dog Blues

When: Fri., July 12, 7 p.m. 2013
Price: Free

If you're looking for a lesson in how the blues first bled into rock 'n' roll, you'll find a living demonstration in singer-guitarist Lee Gildersleeve. Since the '60s, the Greensboro native has worked both sides of the blues-rock divide, splitting the difference between gritty shuffles and laid-back choogle, between barebones call-and-response and efficient pop choruses. His current band distills that experience into workmanlike jaunts that saunter confidently, then unleash the familiar. He's by no means reinventing the blues-rock line, but he certainly knows how to dance along it. —Jordan Lawrence
