One of those almost terrifyingly prolific sci-fi/ fantasy authors, L.E. Modesitt Jr. has written a lot of novels since his first books were published in the early 1980s: nearly 60 in total, with more on the way. Modesitt has written about galactic empires, barbarians, time-traveling heroes and magical musicians. In fact, there's way the hell too many of these for me to start reading him. Suffice to say he does have many, many readers, who are likely to show up for his reading and signing of Scholar. In the latest in his "Imager Portfolio" series, "scholar-imager Quaeryt must face pirates, storms, poisonings, attempted murder—and stunning revelations about himself." If anything, one must give Modesitt credit for being able to type "Quaeryt" over and over for hundreds of pages. That's dedication. —Zack Smith
