LAKEWOOD DRIVE IN: DANG IT'S COLD!

FRIDAY, SEPT. 18, DURHAM

THE SCRAP EXCHANGE—Fall isn't even here yet, but Durham Cinematheque and the A/V Geeks are already making it snow. In the final installment of their summer series, which turns the parking lot of The Scrap Exchange into a drive-in with the unique spin only these two outfits could provide, the theme "Dang It's Cold!" is filled out with shorts and cinematic oddities about snow, ice and frostbite, all on good old-fashioned film. Popcorn courtesy of Shadowbox Studio's popper and soft drinks will be on sale; BYOB for booze. And why not show up early for the Third Friday reception at Scrap Exchange's Cameron Gallery to learn about a relatively unsung, local civil rights hero in Pauli Murray: Imp, Crusader, Dude, Priest? 9 p.m., $20 (car); $10 (two-seat car); $5 (bikes and walk-ups), 2050 Chapel Hill Road, Durham, 919-688-6960, www.scrapexchange.org. —Brian Howe
