La Luz, Boytoy

When: Mon., Aug. 24, 8:30 p.m. 2015
Price: $10-$12
To take La Luz at riff-value is to suspect that Seattle conceals the country’s best surf rock scene. Their second album, Weirdo Shrine, draws inspiration from Charles Burns’ cult comic book Black Hole, where Pacific Northwestern suburbia compounds normal teenage dread with sexually transmitted body mutations. Think it’s weird that those creeps should turn into something so stoned and soothing? Retro-rocker Ty Segall’s reverb-heavy production is a likely culprit. —Jeff Klingman
