La Dispute, Title Fight, The Hotelier

When: Tue., March 24, 7:30 p.m. 2015
Price: $20-$23
Rooms of the House, the third album from Michigan’s La Dispute, earned critical praise for its omnivorous post-rock. Like Cursive’s Domestica, the record attaches familiar imagery to a story of a relationship in collapse. Singer and lyricist Jordan Dreyer balances an emo singer’s conviction with a performance poet’s presentation. Their tourmates, Title Fight and The Hotelier, are similarly ambitious. Title Fight’s February album Hyperview adds Brit-indie brooding to the band’s ragged pop-punk. With careful pacing, explosive dynamics and tangled guitar riffs, The Hotelier’s 2014 breakout, Home, Like Noplace Is There, is a high-water mark for the so-called #emorevival. —Bryan C. Reed
