Kyle Abraham/Abraham.In.Motion

When: June 28-29, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $18-48

Kyle Abraham works hard to stay on edge. His choreography is both restless and iconic. He knows how to flip a movement: One dancer pushing another to the floor can be a playful basketball foul or, with a soundtrack of a police scanner crackling behind it, a jarring image of street life. Building on last year's exciting visit to the American Dance Festival, Abraham and his company present Pavement, a new work inspired by the racial dynamic of the hi-tops fade era and the John Singleton film Boyz N the Hood. —Chris Vitiello
