Kunshan, China, is one of Durham's sister cities. It's also the birthplace of Kunqu Opera, which UNESCO has recognized as a "Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity." Lydia Hodgson introduces the six-century-old performing art in this presentation at the Durham library's main branch auditorium, co-sponsored by the Zhuzhou Committee of Sister Cities of Durham. Hodgson will talk about the music and costumes specific to the tradition and present an excerpt from "The Peony Pavilion." —Chris Vitiello
