Kumail Nanjiani, Jerrod Carmichael

When: Mon., Dec. 23, 9 p.m. 2013
Price: $10
An interesting pairing of visiting comedians from LA will be at Chapel Hill's Local 506 for a "Christmas Eve Eve" show. The headliner is Kumail Nanjiani, a Pakistani-American stand-up whose nerdy sensibility has landed him roles playing the geeky guy in such TV shows as Veep and Franklin & Bash. Coming next year, he'll star in his own Comedy Central show, The Meltdown With Jonah & Kumail, in which he and Nerdist podcaster Jonah Ray will introduce comedians as they perform at LA comics temple Meltdown Comics. Nanjiani is joined by Jerrod Carmichael, a cool, wry comedian from Winston-Salem who recently inked a well-deserved development deal with NBC. So spend the night before the night before Christmas with comics who are moving on up in this world. —Craig D. Lindsey
