Kremerata Baltica Chamber Orchestra

When: Mon., Nov. 8, 7:30 p.m. 2010
Price: $20-55

With some of the Baltic region's most promising young string players in its ranks and star solo violinist Gidon Kremer at its helm, the Kremerata Baltica Chamber Orchestra applies the energy of a power saw to a range of classical works. The group comes to town with a program honoring traditional and contemporary composers; the contemporary contributors to tonight's concert wrote sonically evolving works for Kremer's ensemble. This performance features Stevan Kovacs Tickmayer's "After Glenn Gould," Giya Kancheli's "Silent Prayer" and Beethoven's String Quartet No. 14 in C-sharp minor. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show cost $20–$55 or $10 for students. —Margaret Hair
