Re: “American Idol and its great colony of semi-stars, like David Cook

I laughed out loud at the idea that Dave enunciates too much on Wicked Game. That he can do that and still sound so dark and wrap his voice around it is what makes it his. His vocal control has always been that good but now it is more natural and mature than ever. Take a listen to the bonus track cover of Secret Garden and you suddenly realize that - hey, there are actual lyrics to that song that you never internalized when you heard them from Bruce.

There's enough information missing in this story, as pointed out by previous posters, to cause a knowledgeable reader to give it less weight. And there's virtually no mention of his current tour with sold out shows or his rabid fanbase that really is long past Idol -- the "brooding" label is as dated as some of the information in the story. The four years between This Loud Morning and Digital Vein were watershed years, by Dave's own reckoning. But we know this because we have been with him the whole time, having let go of the Idol shroud years ago and by continuing to support him for the talented singer-songwriter and great guy he is.
