Kodo | UNC Campus: Memorial Hall | Clubs & Concerts | Indy Week
This is a past event.
When: Mon., Feb. 25, 7:30 p.m. 2013
Price: $39-119

All sound is percussion, and everything is a percussion instrument. Japanese taiko drumming bases not just a practice but a way of life upon these tenets. And with 24 drummers pounding giant drums onstage, Kodo's audiences become a percussion instrument themselves. The intergenerational troupe founded their own village dedicated to traditional arts on the Sado Island of Japan in 1998. Performing ancient and modern drum-and-movement routines, Kodo balances a rigorous touring schedule with an almost meditative life back home. This will likely be the most athletic performance you've seen, and you will still be vibrating the next day. —Chris Vitiello
