King Tuff, Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires

When: Fri., Oct. 3, 9 p.m. 2014
Price: $12-$14
Kyle Thomas’ alter ego King Tuff migrated to Sub Pop for Black Moon Spell, which bakes neo-psych, glam, post-punk, power and garage-pop into irregular bites. The high-relief rumble can’t disguise some very catchy hooks. Lee Bains III, meanwhile, got his Southern garage education by serving in Birmingham’s Dexateens. He graduated with honors and added gospel-blues fervor to the guitar crunch. His Sub Pop debut, Dereconstructed, teases regional identity from historical stereotypes. —Chris Parker
