Kij Johnson

When: Tue., Oct. 9, 7:30 p.m. 2012

The Triangle's scene for science fiction and fantasy has grown considerably in the last few years. Our current bragging rights include a novella written as part of N.C. State's MFA creative writing program, which in the last few months has won both the Hugo and the Nebula, the two biggest awards in science fiction. That story, "The Man Who Bridged the Mist," is part of the new collection At the Mouth of the River of Bees by author Kij Johnson. Earning raves from (and comparisons to) such sci-fi luminaries as Ursula K. LeGuin, Johnson's stories deal with strange, lyrical worlds and the mores of alien societies—and how they reflect on our own. She appears at 7:30 p.m. —Zack Smith
