Kids Rock! Benefit Concert 

When: Sun., Sept. 18, 2-6 p.m. 2011
Price: $7-10

This puts a new twist on "all ages." The outdoor show is designed to be enjoyed by children as well as adults. Local hillbilly surf institution Southern Culture on the Skids headlines; the band's fried chicken and Moon Pie-flinging antics ought to resonate nicely with a young audience. Flying Hippo and Mister John Saylor also play the benefit, which is a fundraiser for the Chapel Hill Cooperative Preschool. The music runs from 2–6 p.m. at Forest Theatre, a gorgeous stone amphitheater on the UNC campus. Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 at the door; kids 12 and under get in free. –Corbie Hill
