Kenosha Kid, Savage Knights, Khalat Africa

When: Tue., March 24, 9 p.m. 2015
Price: $6-$8
Adventurous Athens, Georgia jazz outfit Kenosha Kid takes its name from an extended riff in Gravity’s Rainbow. Like the novel, Kenosha Kid is knotty and complex. The curious curves and jittery effects-pedal ornamentations of its latest, Inside Voices, come from the jam and indie rock bands, respectively, that dot Kenosha Kid’s hometown, but the focused movements and keen horn arrangements mark them squarely as a jazz band that plays inside and outside conventions. —Patrick Wall
