Power couple Kate McGarry and Keith Ganz blend a world of musical influences and life experiences to create nuanced takes on folk and jazz. McGarry, a Massachusetts-bred vocalist whose repertoire spans Irish tradition, musical theater, pop and Brazilian music, has been captivating audiences across the country with her controlled contralto since the early '90s. With five records (including 2008's If Less Is More ... Nothing Is Everything, which earned a Grammy nomination), she's established herself as one of contemporary jazz's most challenging and enigmatic voices. Ganz brings the same authority with his guitar. A North Carolina boy with plenty of Triangle ties, Ganz was a mainstay in the local music scene until he moved to New York in 1998. Since then, he's rigorously pursued his craft, playing with jazz notables around the world but never so well as with McGarry —Ashley Melzer
