Re: “Transit plans moving again, but Wake commissioners an obstacle

Mass transit should pay for itself. Those that favor mass transit should pay for it. The return on investment for mass transit only goes to a few.

I favor increasing taxes for schools because the return on investment goes to everyone. Coulping mass transit taxes to a school tax is disengenuous...i.e. slimy politics that hurts kids to benefit a few.

Re: “The devil is in the details on Chatham pipeline

I've attended a number of the Cary Chatham Joint meetings as a Cary resident, and Ms. Kost and Mr. Lucier fought professionally and respectfully to prevent Cary from increasing developer profits at the cost of severely downgrading Jordan Lake and increasing the future costs of obtaining clean drinking water (think Falls Lake and its $100 million price tag for cleaning) for Chatham (and Cary). Your new commissioners are allowing short-term political contributions raise Chatham's future costs of serving its people.

Re: “The waste land

Reminds me of how Cary and Apex are sending their raw sewage to a treatment plant in New Hill, also a poor, rural, minority site. Unfortunately the money behind Cary's and Apex's decision carries more wieght with the EPA than citizen protests.

Re: “An open letter to Wake school superintendent Anthony Tata

Good letter! My opinion is that both neighborhood schhools and quality education for all with extra emphasis on and budget for the poor both contribute to an improvement in society's stability.

Re: “Split ticket

I'm pretty happy with the music scene as it is. And I don't need another 100,000 people crowding our airport, our beaches, our mountains.

Re: “N.C. scrambling to catch up on weatherization goals

Anytime I see costs double over original estimates, I always worry about someone using taxpayers' money to get a premium price for their average work. Hopefully this isn't the case here.

Re: “Re: Cary mayor responds to Western Wake Partners wastewater project location

The mayor is mistaken. There are better sites available on Progress Energy land. However, Progress Energy is much more powerful than a bunch of rural minority homeowners...guess who wins when our politicians don't stand up against the special interests.
