Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, DJ Williams Projekt

When: Tue., Sept. 15, 8 p.m. 2015
Price: $17-$20
Longtime Lenny Kravitz sideman and leader of the Greyboy Allstars, saxophonist Karl Denson is fresh off a run in the Rolling Stones’ touring band and back to fronting his Tiny Universe. The Stones gig was practically made for Denson, who once spent a KDTU tour covering Sticky Fingers. The adventurous Tiny Universe gives him more room to explore. Take last year’s New Ammo, where funked-up interpretations of hits by Beastie Boys, White Stripes and Cold War Kids sit alongside gritty tunes from ’70s soundtracks. Denson’s guitarist opens with his DJ Williams Projekt. —Spencer Griffith
