K97.5 Good Music Showcase

When: Thu., Oct. 29, 7 p.m. 2015
Price: free
Before the annual DURM Hip Hop Summit in August, title sponsor 97.5 WQOK-FM, the Triangle’s self-proclaimed “#1 Station for the Hottest Hip-Hop and R&B,” came under fire for its history of excluding area hip-hop artists on air. Unexpectedly, during the summit, program director Derrick Baker announced the return of “919 Radio,” a weekly show that previously gave local rappers a platform to blast their music on mainstream radio. A few N.C. artists have already reaped its benefits. Brian “B-Mac” McIntosh and DJ Wade Banner host this station showcase. —Eric Tullis
