JuztKP, Quentin Rashad, Jas Natasha

When: Sun., Oct. 4, 7 p.m. 2015
Price: $10
Like Durham rap class-act J. Gunn, the younger JuztKP is also a N.C. A&T State University graduate who returned to the Bull City to navigate his hometown’s tepid hip-hop waters. But unlike his counterpart, JuztKP has yet to carve out his identity or edit his rhymes down to potency. Last year’s 20-track marathon LP, The Lost Son of Miles Davis, highlighted this lack of focus, but as soon as he learns how to put his best foot forward, one mile at time, he’ll find his way into a more cohesive sound. These shows are one way for him test his best stuff. —Eric Tullis
